Social Responsibility

Quality

Ensuring customer satisfaction - this is the underlying core value on which we have built our quality mission. We believe that quality is the cornerstone of customer satisfaction and provides the foundation for long-lasting partnerships.

Our first rate services and quality proven products that are certified safe, are achieved through an effective customer feedback system, a fervent compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and a mindset to continuously improve and maintain the effectiveness of our Quality Management System.

Venture adopts a Total Quality Control (TQC) approach through total participation and commitment of staff from all levels. Our quality policy and its objectives are clearly communicated throughout the organisation as well as to our customers and suppliers. Our staff are trained to spot quality shortfalls and to chart these regularly throughout the production process. Designated teams at each production stage are expected to immediately resolve any problem that may arise as a result of these shortfalls. Venture's operations and processes have been built to meet international quality standards.

Besides being ISO 9001 certified, we have also attained the TS16949 and the QS9000 certification that are specific to the automotive industry. As attestation of our ability to comfortably meet the needs of our customers from the medical industry, we are also ISO 13485 certified and FDA compliant. In 2008, we made leaps in the qualifications for Aerospace when we received QMS for the Aerospace Division in Europe, augmenting our earlier AS/EN 9100, AS 9100B and JISQ 9100 achievements.

Venture's head office in Singapore is a member of the Singapore Quality Class, a recognition accorded by the Singapore government for excellent and consistent quality standards and practices.

Safety Policy

Recognising that our staff are our most valuable assets, we place the greatest importance on doing our utmost best to provide and maintain a safe and healthy work environment, as proven by our certification in OHSAS 18001:1999. To this end, we have implemented environmental health and safety quality standards across all aspects of our business operations and have put in place, processes to ensure that these safety regulations and standards are not compromised.

Regular management reviews are conducted to improve on our existing safe work practices, as well as our compliance to the applicable standards, codes, regulations and laws in the countries in which we operate in.

Environmental Policy

The Venture Group recognises and respects the delicate balance for co-existence of all natural resources. The attainment of the ISO 14001 certification is just a starting point. Beyond this, our very own Environmental Management System continues to look for ways to improve our environmental performance in the following areas:

  • compliance with all environmental legislation and other requirements of the countries in which we operate in
  • continual efforts to conserve resources such as paper, water and power, in all our offices and manufacturing facilities
  • control and management of levels of air emissions, noise and wastewater discharge in all our facilities
  • promulgation of this policy statement and its relevant programs to all persons working for and on behalf of the organisation

Venture has also adopted the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substance) control and management system practices developed by the European Community to eradicate the use of heavy metals that are harmful to human health and the environment.

Towards EICC Full Membership

The Venture Group has voluntarily chosen to adopt the Electronics Code of Conduct (EICC). As a global electronics services provider, Venture identifies with the vision and mission of the EICC. In many respects, the Group's Social Code of Conduct and its Corporate Governance practices are closely aligned to the EICC standards with due consideration to local laws and practices. It is reviewed constantly and amended as required.

Following its successful application to join the EICC, management and employees of the Venture Group will endeavour to meet the requirements stipulated for an EICC Full Membership. In addition, the Group will implement the Code in accordance with the management system set forth in the Code and engage its supply chain partners actively in this process.

Community Involvement & Outreach

At Venture, the shared values that bind us universally across the Group impel us not only to strive for business excellence. More importantly, these values inspire every individual in the Group to embrace corporate citizenship with an appreciation of the interests of all stakeholders.

As such, the Group's corporate social responsibility initiatives extend beyond its statutory obligations. Moreover, Venture approaches good corporate citizenship as an end in itself rather than as a way to promote the Group and has both selectively and purposefully chosen to support many less prominent charitable organisations that usually face greater challenges in raising funds.

Since its inception, the Group has supported various local community and charitable projects. Apart from corporate contributions and financial assistance towards various worthy social and community programmes, Venture has supported projects related to the performing arts and education.

In May 2008, the Group responded immediately to news of a massive earthquake that struck the province of Sichuan, People's Republic of China. Pockets of fund-raising activities sprung up across the Group, including a voluntary cancellation of a corporate social event for employees by Venture Shanghai. Funds set aside for the event were re-directed towards a donation drive for the people of Sichuan. Collectively, a total of RMB600,000 was raised by the Group, including contributions from Venture Shanghai and Venture-GES Shanghai and matching amounts from the corporate office in Singapore. The funds were presented to Shanghai Red Cross with the hope that the contributions will bring about quick relief to alleviate the plight of the affected people with appropriate channelling of funds for the reconstruction of essential facilities and amenities in and around the province of Sichuan. Many smaller group collections and individual contributions have also been made to various agencies in Singapore.

Through its latest humanitarian effort, the Group has once again demonstrated that community involvement and outreach is championed not only at the corporate level. Every individual within the Group holds this virtuous quality of help. Together, Venture and its people will continue to take further steps to improve the quality of life for the communities where it operates and society at large.
